Ryan Gosling Eating Cereal Is the Most Touching Tribute You’ll Ever See

Cereal has never tasted so sweet.

Ryan Gosling has finally downed a spoonful of crunchy morning goodness as a touching tribute to Ryan McHenry, the creator of the "Ryan Gosling won't eat his cereal" meme.

The 27-year-old filmmaker died Sunday after a two-year battle with bone cancer.

Fans of the meme reached out to Gosling on social media and Reddit, encouraging him to eat cereal in honor of McHenry. Gosling obliged and tweeted his condolences.

McHenry first uploaded a six-second Vine showing Gosling appearing to reject an offered spoonful of cereal in early 2013, and it quickly went viral.

Six months later, he discovered he was suffering from osteosarcoma — a type of bone cancer — in his leg.

But McHenry was able to keep positive for the audience he had built up on Vine and Twitter, posting "cancer selfies," videos, and other stories from his hospital bed and during treatment.

In late 2013, Vine artists and fans following his story banded together, raising $10,000 to help him get back to a normal life after an operation on his leg.

Sadly, the surgery wasn't enough to stop the cancer.

Although the two never met while McHenry was alive, they did have a back-and-forth banter on Twitter, where Gosling admitted to actually loving cereal.

McHenry posted his final Gosling-eating-cereal Vine on April 24. Now Gosling has finally eaten his cereal, so R.I.P, McHenry.
