Lionel Messi is coming for all the records.

Just three days after becoming La Liga's all-time leading goalscorer, Lionel Messi has broken another significant record, surpassing Real Madrid legend Raul's milestone as the Champions League's top scorer.

The 27-year-old Argentina superstar produced a hat trick in a 4-0 win over APOEL Nicosia to give him 74 goals in the UEFA Champions League, and this game also marked the first goal of Luis Suarez's Barcelona career after his £64million summer move from Liverpool. As well as being a memorable night for Messi and Suarez, the victory keeps Barcelona in with a chance to top spot in Group F.

Another Real Madrid superstar is close on Messi's heels. Cristiano Ronaldo has 70 Champions League goals and will be looking to add to his career total against Basel on Wednesday.

Both players are now likely to battle back and forth until retirement to gain the greatest total, so who will end up No. 1 on the list?
