Superheroes are all the rage these days and Russia's making sure it's not getting left out of the commotion.

Whilst Marvel and DC have been doing their thing and churning out movies and series on the regular, something has been brewing over in the East.

Getting in on the superhero craze, Russian studios have now dropped a trailer for Zaschitniki (English translation “The Guardians”) and it looks pretty epic to say the least.

The film is set in an alternate Soviet Union, following a group culled from the various satellite countries within the USSR and turned into superheroes. Their goal? Protect the USSR from supernatural threats.

Here's the IMDB synopsis:

"During the Cold War, an organization called 'Patriot' created a super-hero squad, which includes members of multiple soviet republics. For years, the heroes had to hide their identities, but in hard times they must show themselves again."

With its release date estimated to be sometime between Dec 2016 and early 2017, it looks to be a long wait BUT do not fret because there’s some concept art floating around the internet, which gives a good look at some of the heroes:

And there’s also an official Instagram which has been posting up some behind the scenes video and official images:

What’s more, they did come up with a nifty new trailer focusing on one particular character –Khan.

Isn’t the above scene from the movie just amazing. Looks something straight outta World of Warcraft
