7 Craziest Boxing Press Conferences Ever

Nothing builds up pre-fight hype quite like boxing press conferences.

Floyd Mayweather Vs. Manny Pacquiao is likely to break a lot of boxing records. Most money earned by fighters. Most money earned by TV companies. Most money spent on advertising. Most money paid by pay-per-view customers.

But there is one key thing still missing; one vital part of the build-up to any huge fight. Here are some craziest press conferences in boxing history.

1. Lennox Lewis & Mike Tyson

Still perhaps the most glorious of press conference meltdowns, as Tyson not only sparks a huge brawl, but then goes on a tirade so frightening, you can almost here the journalists in the room trembling in fear.

2. Riddick Bowe & Larry Donald

Many boxing experts will tell you Bowe was one of the meanest, most dangerous heavyweights of the modern era. This clip will basically proves the point.

3. Larry Holmes & Trevor Berbick

Insane. Just insane. Two heavweight world champions engage in a full-on street brawl in 1991, featuring one of the running across the top of a car so he can perform a two-footed drop-kick on his opponent.

4. Muhammad Ali & Joe Frazier

Slightly different, in that the two best heavyweights of the 1970s were on a chat show at the time. One question: how does Ali still manage to look cool when being dragged to the floor in a wrestling match?

5. Bernard Hopkins v Winky Wright

Bernard Hopkins always understood the benefits of making his opponent angry (and therefore sloppy) in the build-up to a fight.

6. Danny Williams v Audley Harrison

Seems odd to think of it now, but there was a time when Audley Harrison got punched in the face for a living. And not always in the ring either, as demonstrated here by his British heavyweight rival.

7. Fernando Vargas & Ricardo Mayorga

Do you think Nicaraguan welterweight Mayorga assumed Vargas would be happy to receive a slap in the chops? Madness - but it clearly worked. Mayorga went on to win the fight.
