13 Actors Who Almost Got The Roles That Would Have Ruined Your Favorite Movies
They say that directing is 90 percent casting. Having the right actors can make your movie. Having the wrong ones can doom it.
Many times, an actor will be miscast, and he or she sticks out like a sore thumb. It can be so distracting that it can derail an entire film.
Lucky for us, many of these potential catastrophes have been avoided. You would never know it, but some of the most iconic roles in film history were almost completely ruined by actors who nearly got those parts.
Don’t believe me? Check out the list below and thank God we weren’t subjected to some of these performances.
1. Nic Cage almost played Neo in “The Matrix.”
Honestly, I’d pay good money to see the Nic Cage version of “The Matrix.” But it would be more out of morbid fascination than anything else.
Look, Keanu isn’t what you would call a good actor, but he was a good fit for the part and the movie works with him in the role of Neo.
Plus, you have to see Cage’s face on every “Game of Thrones” character. It will make your day 30 times better than it was before.
2. Anne Hathaway almost got “Knocked Up.”
Katherine Heigl is no one’s first choice. She’s made a ton of God-awful movies since “Knocked Up.” But that movie is her one solid role. And Anne Hathaway would be all wrong for the part.
Plus, she tries WAY too hard when she wants to be funny.
3. Britney Spears almost had Rachel McAdams’ part in “The Notebook.”
I don’t think it’s really necessary to go into all of the reasons this was a God-awful idea. All, I have to do is point you in the direction of “Crossroads.”
